My artwork is process-based.
Each piece begins as an experience I wish to honor, understand, and share. My practice is a dedicated time to process these experiences. I sit with my memories for hours on end, making space to understand their nature, purpose, and effect on me. Through the process of understanding and accepting these experiences, I often end up creating work that represents the lessons they left behind.
Through making art in this manner for some time, I have found that my own vulnerability breeds community. It illuminates the shared nature of experience that often eludes us. The moments that once seemed so personal, when shared, fall together into things universal such as growth or love. My work aims to foster these connections, to access shared truths through individual experience.
I wish to unapologetically acknowledge the space one’s experiences demand while creating spaces to process them. I create these spaces to offer care, comfort, clarity, and community.
